BUILT Program - NEW PHASE DETAILS

Strength

PHASE - STRENGTH TEST

On 30 Minute Clock:

  Find a 5RM Back Squat (take several sets to hit this, don't just rush up into it)

  then,

  2 x 5 @ 70% of the 5RM you just hit

Stimulus: Heavy

Welcome to the Texas Method Squat cycle. This is the only phase during the year where our weekly heavy day will always be a back squat and will always be 5 sets of 5 with the goal of adding 5 - 10lbs per week, culminating in a new 5RM at the end of the phase.

There are two goals for athletes today:

1) find a high quality 5RM that will determine where you will begin your 5x5 next week, and

2) acclimate your legs to heavy squatting by adding 2 additional lighter sets after the 5RM.

Record your 5RM to use for future weeks as well as a target for our retest in 6 weeks.

5RM will likely fall somewhere between 80 - 90% of 1RM.

The Back Squats are todays focus, this block is optional. Throttle yourself based on how you're feeling as the squats will fire up your CNS.
